Designer Introduction

My name is Lara Pavlou and i’m a fashion student currently in my final year studying fashion design and accessories. My drive for wanting to study fashion comes not only from my appreciation of other designers, but also from my great grandmother who was responsible for the very intricate tailoring by hand of high profile actors and performers.

From a young age, I would watch and admire the skills that both my grandmothers possessed in designing and bringing to life their own masterpieces be it in the form of sewing by hand or machine, and this was a realisation that this was an industry I wanted to be a part of.

Through my studies as a fashion student, i’ve been able to experiment with different fabrics and techniques along my three years of education. During my second year, I started working with boning to create garments and was able to develop structured silhouettes with the contrast of delicate fabrics.

Mary Katrantzou is a Greek fashion designer who was born in Athens but is based in London and known as the ‘Queen of Print’. Her design aesthetic combines digital technology with luxurious craftsmanship , often pushing the boundaries of textile design.

Daphne Valente

Daphne Valente is an Athens-born fashion designer, known for her pleated sculptural pieces that effortlessly combine classic silhouettes with contemporary flair.

Majority of her work is also heavily influenced and inspired by Mariano Fortuny and the aesthetics of Ancient Greece.
